The biker with the bird (Theo's Entrance)

A girl caring a basketball, who looked slightly younger than me, came over. She was very pretty. When she approached she asked if i was the one in need of help and I responded with a head nod and a quiet "Yes."

"I um. I am new to camp. My dad told me to come. I um. I don't know where to go."

I never knew why but I had never been good at talking to strangers. I had always been this way.

"Do. Do you know where I am supposed to g-"

"Who's the hottie? Who's the hottie?"

And suddenly my never ending string of bad luck kicked in as my loud mouth inconsiderate parrot decided to speak.

"I am SO sorry."

"I am so sorry. That's Roy. Roy kind of has no filter. He's a rescue bird from a really messed up home. He picked up stone bad habits while he was there. And You're the hot one. I mean. Like. It can't be me. So it must be you. Never mind."

Come on Theo. Get yourself together.

I thought quietly to myself.

The girl didn't seem offended by Roys comments so I decided to let it be.

The girl had mentioned something about being unclaimed and I remembered what my dad told me to say. When I introduced myself.

"Oh. And I am claimed."

I stood up straight and tall and extended my hand and said quietly.

"Hi. I'm Theo King. Son of Iris."

I had feared that people would make fun of me for being a child of iris. I didn't exactly fit the image.

"Yeah everyone keeps saying that but, I don't know. I've never really felt like being a literal rainbow child was a good thing. I mean look at me, I don't exactly fit the look."

I Really didn't feel like taking about my mom. That area was sort of a sore spot for me. I quickly tried to change the subject.

"Dionysus. Your dad is the Beer god? That's pretty cool. I thought his kids were supposed to be these wild party animals. You don't peg me for a party animal."

Picking up my things and my parrot, I started waking with Addie.

I smiled at her little quip about how looks could be deceiving. I guess she had a point. The smile on my face only grew when she asked me about how I was claimed. That was one of the best says of my life.

"Oh yeah I remember that day. See. This is what happened. I had an art competition and a track meet that day. I had forgotten about my at show and had to sketch something quickly. It took me maybe three minutes. I ended up drawing a nice field of flowers with rainbow in the background. I just wanted to turn something in to get the grade. I never would have thought that I would get first place in the competition. But that was only the beginning. I went from the art show to the track meet. I was running the 100 meter dash. it had rained earlier that day but the sun was out and so was a rainbow. I had no idea how much this would help me. Now normally I'm i really fast runner but I ran Extremely fast that day. Like supernaturally fast. After winning the race I felt this really warm feeling and people started gasping and pointing. I looked up yo where they were pointing and saw that a small rainbow was fading above my head. Alot of them dismissed it as some freak weather occurrence and never spoke of it again. But I went to my Dad about it and he told me everything about me my mom and this place. "

I looked over at Addie after finishing my story and smiled.

"He didn't tell me that there were a lot of people here."

"Or how HOT the girls would be. Smoking. Smoking."

Roy said.
